American Idol Fever

Last week everybody has been talking about the American Idol results. So many Filipino friends of mine reacted to the fact that Jessica Sanchez only made it to the second place. America has voted, and they know who they want so I guess let’s just leave it that way. Of course, having a Filipino-American make it to the Top 2, and getting so many good reviews and praises both from the judges and big names in the music industry is enough for us to be proud.

I have not watched the entire season, but from time to time I would be able to catch a portion of the American Idol and always, I get impressed at how their band play their instruments perfectly— for sure they use electro harmonix effects pedals Musicians friend. On top of that, I love how they do those special effects on the stage. It’s not a surprise therefore that despite the fact that so many people vow not to watch American Idol after getting disappointed with results season after season, they still find themselves glued to the show until its finale night.

Surprise Birthday Party for the Husband

Inasmuch as I want to cook and prepare food myself during parties and gatherings, I could not do it because of my busy schedules. So what we do is we have this friend who caters for us. Being hands-on in preparing food in parties has its advantages, but I am more confident that caterers could do a much better job. They have catering equipment suppliers so they obviously have equipment that I don’t have which makes cooking and food preparation a lot faster and easier.

As a regular costumer, I could get discounts, too. And they seem to know what I want, how I want things done, etc. I greatly enjoyed the food they served during hubby’s surprise birthday party that I secretly planned. I was a bit scared that they might squeal but they didn’t… and that made the celebration even more enjoyable!

A Wish for My Birthday

One of the things that I really enjoy when I have free time (aside from chatting with my friends in facebook) is to find some good deals online. Nothing beats the feeling of buying something of value for a good price. I seldom look into jewelry online but when I do, I always fall in love with all those beautiful designs!

Since it would take so much time for me to save up in order to buy one for myself, I am just wishing I could have one of those for Mother’s Day, or on my birthday—and here’s hoping that my dear hubby is reading this!

Missing My Travels

One of the things I love about traveling is buying souvenirs from the places I visit. But of course I could not bring home everything that I like, because sometimes it would be very impractical to pay for an additional amount for our luggage just because I bought everything I fancied. Some people could make use of padded mailers for breakable items like ceramics, vases and breakable fridge magnets. I have not done that yet, but it sounds like a good idea.

Speaking of travels, I have not gone anywhere in a while, and I am so missing the feeling of packing up and boarding a plane! I wonder when would my next trip be and where?

Decorative Switch Plate Covers for My Home

I have seen some pretty decorative switch plate covers online and was so enticed to buy a few pieces. I have been planning to change our outlet covers with those uniquely designed switch plate covers. From more than hundreds to choose from, I think I will have a hard time picking one that will suit my wall paint or to my interior decoration.

I just find these plate covers very cool and when I have them installed, they will certainly catch anyone’s attention. I have been, and so will my friends or visitors. I know it will take me time to select the best switch plate cover and when I do, it will all be worth it.

Coins from the US

One of the things I wanted to have was different sets of coins from the US. You see, US has a very complicated names for coins and if you have lived or was born there, it would be easy peasy for you to recognize them. But if you’re a tourist, it’s a challenge to even know which cents is a penny and which one is a dime. I would usually just lay out the coins on the table for the cashiers to find and figure out which coins I could use to pay. With dollar bills, of course, it’s pretty straightforward.

Not just sure if silver morgan dollar works the same way. But most of the dollar bills do have an exact amount written on them, like other moneys from the rest of the world.

Fountain of Youth

And you think only women think of wanting to stay young? Think again. There are other guys out there that are also very conscious of how they look. Yes, we have a lot of Adonis’ in our midst. We can’t blame them though. It’s in a human nature to be so conscious with beauty – not just women, but men alike. Do you know anybody who’s like that? I know some for sure.

Kids and Yoyo

Schenker was very little when he first saw a yoyo in Toys R Us.

We bought one, and ever since then he has loved playing with the yoyo. Yes, in the beginning he needed help with playing with the yoyo, as he was still at the stage where his motor skills were still developing. But now he really enjoys playing with it, although they do need replacement every once in awhile.

I think he might like duncan yoyo since he is getting better at playing yoyos. He is just getting better as he plays with it more often. His hand coordination is firmer now and he enjoys playing with it .

Windscreen Change

Cars have been an important means of transportation in the last 70 years.

Just last week we felt that we needed to change our windscreen tint on our car. We decided to change, and as the car tint customer-service guy looked at the windscreen, he noticed a cracked-chip on the windscreen. He suggested we change the windshield, and since then we have been looking for a good one.

Friends suggested we get the zero gravity windscreen as they are made from finest grade of acrylic plastic and it is stretched as it is formed, a process which forms superior strength and flexibility. I thought that would be a great idea as we drive quite a bit and we enjoy doing road journeys especially long journeys.

Well I guess we’ll go change the windshield soon. Can’t wait to show you the photo when we change it.

Looking Forward to Summer Fun

I miss baking with the kids. It’s one of the fun things we do together, and we have not done for a while now. I should get ingredients soon so we could do it on a weekend. Summer time is almost here, so I’m hoping that we could bake more often.

It’s always a great feeling to see how the kids enjoy sieving and putting some icing or toppings on the cupcakes. I, of course, enjoy every moment spent with the kids and the eating that follows shortly after the cake grows cold!

When I think about this I could not help but wish summer starts tomorrow already!
