Prayer Profile

I am currently developing a prayer profile for different people groups, among other things. I need to use it in August. A church in Bn invited me again to do a follow up on the kids’ and youth’s program which I did last year.
If you’re following my reflections on the book I am reading by Norma Day: Seven Secrets to Timeless Beauty, please bear with me. I know it’s too slow. I’ve been reading it in between something else. I hope to finish it though so I can go and read other books.
Compassion: That’s the topic of the sermon in church today. Jesus have compassion for the people… so should we. It is so timely as I’ve been looking up for a theme for the prayer profiles I am currently developing.
My friend Elizabeth’s status update on FB goes like this:
The very quality of your life, whether you love it or hate it, is based upon how thankful you are towards God. It is one’s attittude that determines whether life unfolds into a place of blessedness or wretchedness. Indeed, looking at the same rose bush, some people complaing that the roses have thorns while others rejoice that some thorns come with roses. It all depends on your perspective.

“‘But now, listen to me, Jacob my servant,
Israel my chosen one.
The LORD who made you and helps you says:
Do not be afraid, O Jacob, my servant,
O dear Israel, my chosen one.
For I will pour out water to quench your thirst
and to irrigate your parched fields.
And I will pour out my Spirit on your descendants,
and my blessing on your children.
They will thrive like watered grass,
like willows on a riverbank.
Some will proudly claim, “I belong to the LORD.”
Others will say, “I am a descendant of Jacob.”
Some will write the LORD’s name on their hands
and will take the name of Israel as their own.’”
Isaiah 44:1–5
encouragement for today
For what are you thirsty? Search your soul, and then open it to the Lord’s living water poured out to slake your thirst. What do you long to see happen in your children’s lives? Know that God cares about that too. Let his promises of goodness, of abundance for both you and your children, wash over you and flush away your fear. “Do not be afraid … ” for the God who made you and chose you will also help you and richly bless you. Hear once again the heart of the Lord for you and your children.
Lancome Workshop

I buy Cleo magazine from time to time. I don’t watch tv so I get my updates on what’s latest and what’s hot from the magazines. I even signed up for Cleo magazine to get the latest update.
So what’s hot? They’re going to have a Lancome Workshop. This would mainly teach women how to do make up without looking like they just painted their faces. Since I am doing a reflections on beauty issues, I thought… maybe, just maybe I could go for this one.
Hmmm… to go or not to go… that is the question. Lemme see how much first though. Lancome is on the high end area. I might not be able to afford it.
Maybe not. I still need to save for rv repair. NOT. I wish though. Anyways, there’s no rv in Malaysia so you can tell I’m joking. But the hubby is encouraging me to save for a car.
Maybe after I save for my camera, I would start saving for a car. After that, I can go for beauty classes. What say you?
LOL. What am I ranting now? I should just get back to my book and do my reflections here.

“‘But forget all that—
it is nothing compared to what I am going to do.
For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
The wild animals in the fields will thank me,
the jackals and owls, too,
for giving them water in the desert.
Yes, I will make rivers in the dry wasteland
so my chosen people can be refreshed.
I have made Israel for myself,
and they will someday honor me before the whole world.
But, dear family of Jacob, you refuse to ask for my help.
You have grown tired of me, O Israel!’”
Isaiah 43:18–22
encouragement for today
God plans to—longs to—bless his people, so that they may honor him. Mark carefully: It’s about relationship. He’s not interested in people who simply “do the right thing.” He wants people to honor him. You don’t honor someone unless you have a relationship with them. Today, know that God has made you for himself; he longs to bless you—and accept this gift of relationship. Don’t be afraid to ask for help; don’t ever grow tired of the living God!
Writing a Book

The friend I just recently visited has started writing a book. It’s a story about a person she knows. I kind of amazed because she doesn’t have a good English command and here she was, writing a book. She’s halfway through her 200-paged book. She said she had an editor friend that encouraged her to do. She just needed to write, regardless of her grammar and sentence structure and they would edit it for her.
Ahhhh… that is the secret to it. Because I have seen a lot of famous people coming up with their own books. They must have great editors. And so my friend writes her book in one of those cutesy netbooks.
I wonder if I could ever start writing a book. I am not very patient in writing long articles so if ever I start writing, my struggle would be on how to finish the book.
For now, though… writing reflections seems to be the best option. I am enjoying it, although I am very slow in finishing it.

“Rise up, O God, and scatter your enemies.
Let those who hate God run for their lives.
Blow them away like smoke.
Melt them like wax in a fire.
Let the wicked perish in the presence of God.
But let the godly rejoice.
Let them be glad in God’s presence.
Let them be filled with joy.
God places the lonely in families;
he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy.
But he makes the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.”
Psalm 68:1–3, 6

encouragement for today
In these verses, both the wicked and the godly are in God’s presence. Each has a vastly different experience, however. The wicked perish. The godly rejoice with great joy. Same circumstance—being in God’s presence—but very different results. In the end, when the veil of deception is stripped away and every person stands in God’s presence, all will receive the results of what they chose to believe on earth. The godly get to experience a taste of his presence now, in what he does for us (verse 6). In this we rejoice, even as we await the fullness of joy.

My Profile Photo

I just love the family photo I used as an FB Profile picture. Hubby and our boy wore coat and tie. I find Schenker so cute! He really looked like some big-time businessman or some little preacher. That photo was taken about a few months ago and I bought that coat 2 years ago, and sadly, he has outgrown that outfit.
Now, I am browsing through the net for some tuxedo shirts for him and hubby. Guess what I found? There are tuxedo shirts for women, too! The photos I found fascinated me—would I be daring enough to wear one on a special occasion?
The Wonders

I was born in the 70’s. Back then, when we had to line up in the stores to pay for the stuff we bought, the cashier would then record, one by one, the items we have bought and add them with a calculator. It was an agony to be lining up next to some owners of small retail stores—like they buy baskets and baskets of goods! All the checking and re-checking done by store personnel, not to mention the mistakes they make with wrong buttons they press on their calculators make the waiting even worse. Some smaller shops do not even have calculators back then! With their math prowess, they just do the math manually, on paper.
Now shopping is a lot easier with barcode scanners in malls and even in smaller shops like the small convenience stores nearest us. In just seconds, it identifies the item bought and its price. It is not only fast, but it does make the buying very convenient. The wonders of modern technology simply amaze me.
Visual Poise: The Art of Elegant Movements

I am already on Chapter 2 with the book “Seven Secrets to Timeless Beauty” by Norma Day. In this chapter, Norma talks about poise. You can achieve a perfect poise by practicing in private. Here, she described how a good way to stand can ultimately reflect a good poise. Norma gave a step by step example of the basic stance – which can flatter the legs and slims down the hips; the pause and the pedestal stance in which the body position is very flattering to your legs and hips.
There are different types of legs. In fact, there are 5.
- Normal legs
- Bowed legs
- Heavy Legs
- Thin legs
- Knocked-kneed legs

No matter what type of legs we have, we can achieve a good poise by following stance rules.
I wanna quote this when Norma said:
Poise is more than just a particular way of carrying yourself-and it’s not a rigid or prim-and-proper mannerism that looks phony. Picture a woman in the wild walking along gracefully with a water jar on her head — that’s poise, but it’s more than just physical.
Poise is about balance — carrying your whole self with equilibrium. It’s an easy, self-possessed assurance of manner, a gracious tact in coping and handling things in your world. (Chapter 2, pp. 29, Norma Day)
I think I was right all along about the real meaning of POISE. Sometimes, we women claim we have poise but when certain situations come, there’s surely an outbursts. This is one thing we can master though. It is an art. Inner poise is an art that is not passive.
But back to physical poise, as Norma describes the different types of legs for the stance rules, I could probably practice in private. looking back at my photos though, I think I have been following the rules. Good job on me… now the proper way to handle situations… let’s pause and practice. Breathe in, breathe out. LOL.

Honored and Loved

Today’s encouraging words has blown me away. I have tested and seen and experienced this kind of love and yet, everytime I read the promise I still feel so blown away.
“But now, O Jacob, listen to the LORD who created you.
O Israel, the one who formed you says,
‘Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you.
I have called you by name; you are mine.
When you go through deep waters,
I will be with you.
When you go through rivers of difficulty,
you will not drown.
When you walk through the fire of oppression,
you will not be burned up;
the flames will not consume you.
For I am the LORD, your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
I gave Egypt as a ransom for your freedom;
I gave Ethiopia and Seba in your place.
Others were given in exchange for you.
I traded their lives for yours
because you are precious to me.
You are honored, and I love you.’”
Isaiah 43:1–4
encouragement for today
When we go through difficulties, it’s easy to lose sight of God’s love. It’s precisely within these situations that God reveals his heart. He is not an unconcerned bystander. No, he is right there with us in whatever difficulties we face. He has already ransomed us, and he will not allow anything to overcome us. How can it, if he is with us and we are clinging to him? Is God overcome by anything? As long as we stay connected to him, he will take us safely through every trouble, any flood or fire that threatens us.
